The City of San Marcos is hosting their 2024 UniverCity in Spring 2024. It originally launched in Spring 2023, and is a new initiative that gives residents a behind-the-scenes look at City Hall.

This free 8-week program includes informational sessions highlighting city departments and the services they provide to residents and visitors.

This year’s class will run between March 28 and May 21, 2024. Class dates will be March 28, April 4, April 11, April 18, April 25, May 2, May 9, and Graduation on May 21.

Class Dates

Classes will be held on Thursdays, with dinner served beginning at 5:30 p.m. and presentations to follow beginning at 6 p.m. and ending no later than 8:30 p.m.

The course schedule will include the following topics:

  • City Overview, Mayor and City Council, City Manager’s Office, City Clerk’s Office, Communications, History of San Marcos
  • Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology,
  • Parks and Recreation, Main Street, Economic Development, CVB with Arts
  • Fire Department, Police Department, Emergency Management, City Marshal’s Office
  • Library, Neighborhood Enhancement
  • Public Works, San Marcos Utilities
  • Planning and Development Services, Engineering/CIP
  • Graduation at May 21 City Council Meeting

San Marcos UniverCity Application

Only City of San Marcos residents are eligible to participate.

San Marcos UniverCity is a series of informational sessions held once a week on Thursdays (5:30-8:30 p.m.), for 7 weeks beginning on March 28, 2024.

Graduation will be held on a Tuesday, May 21st during a San Marcos City Council Meeting.

They will be taking applications beginning February 5th through March 16th. Applicants will be notified if they have been selected by March 20th.

Participants will be expected to attend all classes to graduate. If you are unable to attend a class, they ask that you email Tiffany Harris at your earliest convenience prior to the class for an excused absence.

This class will be provided in English only, but they are considering a Spanish option for residents in the future. If you are interested in a Spanish speaking (or other language) option, please email Tiffany Harris.
